Apex.OS* 1.0 Release
Updated: Feb 13
I’m thrilled to announce today that Apex.OS* 1.0 is available to customers and partners starting immediately.
Dejan and I founded Apex.AI in 2017 on the premise of developing technology that can launch into products within 3 years to make mobility safer and more reliable. Based on open-source ROS 2, Apex.OS* is a natural choice for automotive companies interested in using modern software practices to implement autonomy. ROS is already the de facto standard for robotics, and Apex.OS* extends that standard to the autonomous driving industry. In doing so, Apex.OS* offers companies a head start on bringing safety to the autonomous driving software layer, the means to focus their business on their own key differentiators, and much faster time to market. Customers in North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia are already implementing their applications integrating state-of-the-art algorithms and AI using the Apex.OS* software framework.
Dejan Pangercic, our CTO and my co-founder, points out that “our core expertise is to apply advanced C++ and modern software architecture to develop a software framework for real-time, deterministic robotic and autonomous system development. Since our founding, we have maintained a singular focus on releasing a high-quality product to our customers”.
Today marks an important milestone for Apex.AI, our investors, customers, and partners. We are seeing a tremendous amount of interest from the largest automotive OEMs to disruptive innovators. We have been extremely busy helping each one shorten their timeline from developing to deploying autonomous driving.
Brian Gerkey, CEO of Open Robotics, adds that "in recent years we've seen all manner of robotics companies go to market by leveraging the more than ten years of software development behind ROS. And now Apex.AI is bringing that benefit to the world of autonomous driving. If a transportation company insists on re-inventing the wheel, they can focus on the actual wheel and leave the software to Apex.AI and ROS."
I’ve written before about simplifying the software stack for the self-driving industry and am pleased today to introduce Apex.OS* to bring that vision closer to reality!
Stay tuned for more.
*As of January 2023 we renamed our products: Apex.Grace was formerly known as Apex.OS, and Apex.Ida was formerly known as Apex.Middleware.
