We raised $56.5M from industry to grow the team and accelerate our product development

Updated: Feb 13, 2023

Announcing Apex.AI’s $56.5M Series B Led by Orillion with ZF, Continental, AGCO, Jaguar Land Rover’s InMotion Ventures, Airbus Ventures, Toyota Ventures, Hella Ventures, Volvo Group Venture Capital, as well as Canaan and Lightspeed

We founded Apex.AI four years ago to accelerate the development and production deployment of safe autonomous vehicle software. Today our customers are using Apex.OS* across a much wider range of applications than just autonomous vehicles, including ADAS, vehicle gateway, in-cabin sensing, powertrain, and more.

We are thrilled to announce that we’ve raised $56.5 million in a Series B financing round led by Orillion with participation from ZF, Continental AG, AGCO, Jaguar Land Rover’s InMotion Ventures, Airbus Ventures, Toyota Ventures, HELLA Ventures, Volvo Group Venture Capital, and others, as well as our Seed and Series A lead investors Canaan, Lightspeed Venture Partners. We have great support from industry partners who have a concrete problem to solve and understand we are providing an efficient, safe, reliable solution. In addition, financial investors see an overall industry trend toward efficient and sustainable software for mobility applications. We couldn’t be happier with our amazing community of partners and customers supporting us after just four years!

Since our Series A fundraise three years ago, our business and products have grown significantly. We developed Apex.OS*—a functionally safe ROS 2 distro—which the TÜV Nord certified to ISO 26262 ASIL-D earlier this year, and we launched Apex.Middleware*. We’re excited to be working with a number of OEMs and suppliers on their autonomy programs, ADAS development, and many applications for other domains. We have expanded the application scope together with our customers from cars to trucks and tractors.

What can you expect to see from us in the months and years ahead?

This funding helps us accelerate product development to address additional use cases and support our customers even better and faster. Our product managers and engineers work directly with our customers to understand their requirements and prioritize development. In addition, we provide every customer with full integration support to enable their unique applications, which has helped them achieve development milestones faster.

Additionally, we are using this funding to grow into new application areas and more industries. Apex.OS* makes the development and deployment of applications with real-time, reliable, and safety requirements very efficient. We are getting market pull from many more application areas that we have been able to address: agriculture, smart machines, industrial automation, IoT, and aerospace—the sky is the limit with the backing of our friends in industry and finance.

Growing the team

Our secret sauce is the team: A big part of our culture focuses on bringing the right people on board with the mix of experience and expertise to drive to modern and solid software engineering. In the past year, we’ve grown our leadership team, we’ve opened two more offices, and we’ve almost doubled the team.

We are now hiring in all areas: Product development software engineers, application engineers, software architects, customer project managers, marketing, finance, legal, recruiting. We are hiring in Europe, North America and expanding to Asia. Our goal is to double the team once more in 2022. Come and join us!
